August 14th Proclaimed as Chicago’s Golden Knight Day!

SFC Elliott accepted award from the Mayors Office

The U S Army Parachute Team’s, Gold Demonstration Team , Tandem Section, Aviation Team members and Media Relations Department attended a social this evening that was hosted b y the City of Chicago, the Mayor’s Office, Rudy Malanati and the Schell Corporation . Members of the Blue Angels, the Navy Leap Frogs, Sean Tucker and numerous other acts attended the event.

Festive Reggae music played in the background as the menagerie of air show performers socialized and enjoyed a beautiful spread of fajitas, beef, seafood and chicken skewers, salads, sushi and a delightful dessert of peanut butter jelly tarts and a fruit sponge cake and whipped cream parfait.Megan from the Mayor’s Office graciously acknowledged the team for supporting the Chicago Air and Water since 1960 and declared a proclamation that August 14, 2010 as Chicago’s Official Golden Knights Day.

 SFC Michael Elliot, Tandem Team leader accepted the award on behalf of the Golden Knights. Megan said that she was so touched and brought to tears when Nicholas Zaglifa the eighty-eight year old WWII veteran who jumped into Normandy did a tandem jump at show center today.

Former Golden Knight Bill Wison and Gold Team

Former Black Team member from 1976 joined the team to rekindle the vintage memories of the past.
