William Raney on a Tandem Skydive with SFC Mike Elliott

The Tandem Team took to the skies above Beckley, West Virginia on Friday. The weather was perfect for jumping out of airplanes. SFC Mike Elliott conducted the Tandem Briefing Friday morning as “Team Six” flew the Otter up from Pope AFB. Just as SFC Elliott finished up the class the Twin Otter wheels touched down in Beckley, the weather was amazing, and the jumpers were ready to put their knees in the breeze. Fridays tandem passengers included several centers of influences, “COI’S”.  These notable figures from the local community came out for an Army experience 2 1/2 miles above the ground. Local Radio “DJ” Jessica Dawson was there to cover the event and also jump out of a perfectly good air plane. After the jump she relayed her experience to thousands of listeners across the south central West Virginia area.  The views were breathtaking on the way down from 12000 ft.  The valleys and mountains in the area gave the tandem jumps a perfect back drop.  On saturday members of the Golden Knights will be jumping into the Becklely Auto show.  If your in the area or passing through keep your eyes skyward Saturday night for an amazing display of precision parachuting.
