Black Team Jumps for the Wounded Warriors

Blue skies came not a moment too soon for Black Team today, as they jumped in to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center to a crowd of grateful Wounded Warriors.

The day started out with a 700 foot cloud cover…1300 feet short of the minimum 2000 feet required for a jump. As the day progressed, mother nature smiled and opened up a beautiful clear blue afternoon sky, allowing the team to perform a Canopy Relative Work show from 5000 feet, wowing the crowd with a three-stack pendulum and a two stack on top.

Although the crowd of 500 or so was a little smaller than what the team is used to, the cheers and applause seemed to resonate far into the streets of downtown Washington, DC, since many of the Wounded Warriors in attendance had not been able to go outdoors since they were admitted to the hospital.

After the jump, the team went in to the hospital and spent some time chatting with some of the Wounded Warriors who were not able to leave their rooms to see the jump. It was a very humbling experience that will not soon be forgotten by any of those who took part in today’s jump.
