We may have hit the 100 degree mark yesterday in Fayetteville, but Superior Court Judge Doug Sasser knew just where to go to escape the heat. At 13,500 feet above the Laurinburg-Maxton airport in North Carolina, the weather was in the 60′s and just a little breezy. Judge Sasser, Cumberland County Assistant DA Calvin Colyer, and several law enforcement members cooled off with the Golden Knights Tandem Team.
SFC Mike Elliott gave the tandem briefing to an eager class. After the soon to be airborne class learned just what to do on their tandem skydive, everyone geared up and two by two took to the skies. After the Twin Otter reached 1000 ft above the ground the jump door opened to help cool down the load of jumpers. It takes a lot of personal courage to stand on the edge of an airplane door 2 1/2 miles above the ground and put your life in the hands of a Soldier. Everyone followed the instruction of SFC Elliott and displayed great control on their jumps. Yesterday’s experience with the Army Golden Knights is one that all of the passengers will take back to friends in the community and further connect America’s Army to the local area.
