Saturday, August 21st: The air show over Massachusetts couldn’t have gone better on Saturday. The perfect weather and unlimited altitude kept the acts flying all day and the long line of vehicles and pedestrians showed the support of the local community. The Golden Knights kicked off the show by flying in the American flag while the National Anthem played in the background. They then demonstrated their full capabilities by performing a mass formation with video, and then later in the day, a full show. It was apparent that the jumps were a hit as the Team walked through the crowd to sign autographs and take pictures. The Team spoke with several veterans of different wars, reminding all of us of those who have sacrificed so that events like this are possible.
Sunday, August 22nd: A hopeful crowd gathered at the air show despite the low clouds and intermittent rain that plagued Westfield, MA on Sunday. The Golden Knights were able to take off for the first show, but due to weather restrictions, had to land with the plane, which is something parachutists try to avoid! The Team watched the few acts that were able to perform while they waited for the skies to clear. Unfortunately, the clouds didn’t get any higher throughout the day, which prevented the jump, but did allow the Team to spend time taking pictures, talking, and answering questions for the Army recruiters and the crowd. Despite the weather on Sunday, the weekend was deemed a success.
